Govt. forms two bodies for West Seti
Kathmandu, June 22, 2009: The Government of Nepal (GoN) has set up two bodies to monitor and accelerate the activities of 750 MW West Seti Hydroelectric Project in an effective manner.
According to an official letter dated June 21 from Department of Electricity Development (DoED) under the Ministry of Water Resources, the GoN has formed a Project Steering Committee (PSC) and a Project Task Force (PTF) for West Seti. [Read More]
Panel of Experts for West Seti
Katthmandu, June 4, 2009 : The government and Asian Development Bank (ADB) have jointly formed an independent Panel of Experts (PoE) to monitor storage-schemed 750-MW West Seti Hydroelectricity Project to be built in the Far-western region.
The panel, which was formed encompassing social, environmental and hydropower sectors, includes the noted personalities from the Far West, and consists of Prof. Dr. Hari Datta Lekhak, Prof. Dr. Hem Raj Pant and Kriti Chand Thakur. [Read More]
West Seti seeks land in hill
Kathmandu, May 28, 2009: West Seti Hydroelectric Project (WSHP) has started looking for resettlement land in the hills for people to be displaced by the Project. Prior to this, the project looked for resettlement land in Terai districts. The project is looking for resettlement land in all four project-affected districts along with Achham.
The 750 MW project has to resettle people from 34 wards of 15 VDCs in Doti, Dadeldhura, Bajhang and Baitadi. As per the data collected by the project nine years back, a total of 1579 households from reservoir area needed resettlement. [Read More]
